New Insight on Graphite Anode Degradation Induced by Li‐Plating

نویسندگان

چکیده

Graphite is the dominant anode material for lithium-ion batteries; however, it still suffers from Li-plating when charging fast or at low temperature, and associated with performance fading safety concerns. Herein, we clarify mechanism of lithium evolution graphite particles by over-lithiation cycle test, in-situ XRD, titration gas chromatography. We observe that intercalation compounds (GICs, LiC12 LiC6 e.g.) gradually become inactive wrapped dead side reaction sediments, while rate this degradation will be accelerated as overpotential decreased after initial Li metal nucleation. This understanding contradictory to popular one plating mainly caused inferior SEI induced hindering Li-ion intercalation. The isolation lithiated leading vanishing insertion/deintercalation process in anodes. further study temperature high rates, respectively. work provides a insight on Li-plating, new can used guide design advanced materials electrodes avoid achieve extreme safe charging.

Electrochemical Degradation of Congo Red from Aqueous Solution: Role of Graphite Anode as Electrode Material

The present work has been carried out to study the mechanism of electrochemical degradation of Congo red dye. Electrolysis has been carried out in a single-chamber electrochemical cell having graphite anode and platinum cathode in the presence of KCl as supporting electrolyte under amperostatic conditions. The potential across the electrodes has been adjusted so that a constant 30 mA current pa...

Expanded graphite as superior anode for sodium-ion batteries.

Graphite, as the most common anode for commercial Li-ion batteries, has been reported to have a very low capacity when used as a Na-ion battery anode. It is well known that electrochemical insertion of Na(+) into graphite is significantly hindered by the insufficient interlayer spacing. Here we report expanded graphite as a Na-ion battery anode. Prepared through a process of oxidation and parti...

A new insight into the formation of odor active carbonyls by thermally-induced degradation of phospholipids in self-assembly structures.

The role of molecular organization in heated aqueous dispersions of egg phosphatidylcholine (PC) and egg phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) was studied with respect to the formation of key odorants. Evidence was found for the crucial role of self-assembly structures adopted by phospholipid molecules on the quantitative composition of volatile constituents. The concentrations of seven aldehydes and o...

Irreversible capacities of graphite anode for lithium-ion batteries

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and in-situ intrinsic resistance measurements were applied to sandwiched disk graphite electrodes to investigate the mechanism of formation of irreversible capacity during initial galvanostatic or potentiostatic lithium intercalation into graphite in four different electrolyte formulations. The stability of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) film...
